Repurpose your IG Reels as YouTube #Shorts

#๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐˜€ (currently beta-testing in India) is YouTubeโ€™s short-form video creation tool, similar to ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™œ๐™ง๐™–๐™ข ๐™๐™š๐™š๐™ก๐™จ or ๐™๐™ž๐™ ๐™๐™ค๐™ . Simply put, theyโ€™re multi-clip, < 60-second, vertical videos designed exclusively for YouTubeโ€™s mobile experience (so not desktop). However, because the product is only in beta, thereโ€™s no in-app tool to build these vids. So, for the time being โ€” repurpose your IG Reels! All you have to do is add โ€œ#Shortโ€ to the end of your title when uploading the video to YouTube. YouTube will auto-recognize it as a Short and distribute accordingly. And the view-counts on these are nothing ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ต (see what I did there ๐Ÿ˜›) of spectacular. Perhaps youโ€™ve noticed YouTubeโ€™s mobile Home Feed has added a โ€œshelfโ€ that scrolls right-to-left chalked full of short, vertical videos: #๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐˜€. It could be your next video!

Be advised, thereโ€™s no way to customize the thumbnail/cover-image. Also, you can add a section for these โ€œShort videosโ€ to your Channelโ€™s home page via YouTube Studio. Remember, though, itโ€™ll only be viewable on mobile. Last thing: if you use IG music, youโ€™re not going to have an option to save the video to your camera-roll, as thatโ€™d be a licensing violation. It needs to be original audio.
